Marple Hall School
To replace the ageing phone system with the latest full IP technology
Marple Hall School is a secondary school primarily split over three main buildings located in Marple Cheshire with around 1300 pupils.
MHS required a modern, easy to use, reliable communication tool capable of working on current infrastructure with the option of upgrading in the future.
The immediate issues they faced were:
A lack of flexibility with their existing system with regards to in house programming changes.
They required the ability to change messages during holidays and school closures.
The long term reliability of the current system had also become an issue.
Having reviewed their requirements and specification, Service Telecom Ltd in collaboration with the IT Department at Marple Hall School, agreed that a phased upgrade of the internal infrastructure to support their desired system would be the best way forward.
Over a 2 year period the cabling infrastructure at Marple Hall School was upgraded to support their chosen VoIP system. This work was timetabled to cause minimum disruption and within their budget constraints.
MHS chose the NS1000 because it provides a full suite of network telephony and communications features, with built-in advanced applications and an excellent and extensive choice of fixed and wireless terminals, headsets and softphones.
System capabilities can be easily enhanced and expanded with software applications and licences, allowing it to meet the needs of single-site and multi-site organisations.
The system was installed during the school summer holidays with staff training taking place prior to the students return to school.
Final programming changes were then Implemented once the students returned & staff decided what would work best for them.
Installing the Panasonic NS100 system has meant that MHS can now communicate effectively with its staff .
The new system also provides the parents with a better experience when contacting the school.
They have gained centralized web administration and can control all aspects of the new system from any point on their internal network.
Increased flexibility for staff on the move via the mobile SIP application utilizing internal Wifi service.
